I remember when my dad started reading The Wizard of Oz to me out loud. It took about a month for us to read it through, because my dad reads only in funny accents. It's funny at first but then gets really annoying. Anywho, I hope you all read and enjoy his book. Thank you for visiting, have fun!

When I was little, my next door neighbor's grandmother read us all Baum's book. It was my first memory of getting lost in a story. If my memory is correct, she read it all in one sitting (with water breaks). I seem to recall that one of the kids was sick on the couch. Can't wait to read Finding Oz!

Growing up in Kansas - The Wizard of Oz is ever present. Case in point: Here in Kansas, Target sells glittery red shoes for little girls...year round. For Halloween, Dorothy is a popular character to emulate (if you are a grown up - there are even 'sexy' Dorothy costumes!). I think one reason Dorothy is such a popular character at Halloween - is that it is an excuse to take your dog with you as a prop. You don't even have to have a terrier for Toto - any dog will do - labs, goldens, mutts - you name it. So long as your partner has a gingham dress and red shoes - any pooch can be 'Toto'. It was great to meet you at TED this year, Evan. Best of luck and success with your book. I can't wait to read it!

When I stop and think about it, it's amazing how much the themes, images and phrases from The Wizard of OZ are used in our daily lives. I'm really looking forward to reading this book.
